About a month ago (or maybe a few weeks ago. Time’s tricky these days.) I started work on a remake of sorts. Ed Wood, the godfather of god awful B cinema is best known for Plan 9 from Outer Space, a film almost universally recognized as the worst movie ever made. It’s a moniker that was truly earned from it’s poorly edited and executed script, laughable effects, and terrible cinematography. However, the story, while unpolished and terribly written, gave birth to an idea that was ahead of its time. I began writing my own version of Plan 9 from Outer Space. Neither a remake or revision but my own work inspired on this original concept. The chapters are written in short, flash fiction styled segments interconnecting to tell the larger story. Below you’ll find the first five chapters. I am trying to keep it a bit campy and fun with some fan service while also making it true to the idea that was trying to be conveyed nearly 60 years ago. It’s far from finished and what you’ll find is genuinely a rough draft but, hopefully, you’ll see the direction that I’m going with this.
